LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Larry Eugene Stamper, 72, of London, Ky., passed away Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013, at Saint Joseph London.
He was born Jan. 22, 1941, the only child to the union of the late Glenn Stamper and Rose Parman Stamper.
Larry spent all his life in London where by primary occupation he was a teacher at Laurel County High School and the former Bush High School. Upon retirement he also worked briefly as librarian at the Laurel County Public Library. He was a faithful member, clerk, and Sunday school teacher at Union United Baptist Church for many decades. His hobbies included spending time with family, reading, and writing, telling stories, and hunting Indian arrowheads.
He leaves surviving his wife of 42 years, Patty (Smith) Stamper; two sons and daughters-in-law, Eric and Tara Stamper of Richmond, Ky., and Dustin and Hanna Stamper of Lexington, Ky.; four beloved grandchildren, Braden, Andrew, Zachary, and Eila; and a very close church family.
Visitation will be conducted from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today, Wednesday, Oct. 23, at London Funeral Home.
The funeral for Larry Eugene Stamper will follow at 2 p.m. at Union United Baptist Church with Roy Hamblin officiating.
He will be laid to rest next to his parents at the Laurel River Cemetery in Laurel County.
