Rev. Thomas R. McCoy

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Rev. Thomas R. McCoy, 60, husband of Joan Orras McCoy, passed away, Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013 in Goshen, Ind. 

Born in Williamson, W.Va., he was a son of Leonard and Alma Estep McCoy of Lexington. 

Rev. McCoy was a pastor for 21 years at Way of Holiness Tabernacle Church.  He served his ministry in many ways including being the founder of Bluegrass Pentecostal Youth Camp in Elizabethtown, vice president of Faith Missions in Dundee, Fla., a board member for Free Pentecostal Church of God Ministerial Association in Cincinnati, Ohio, and co-founder of Champion Holiness Missions in Donna, Texas.  He also served as a missionary in the Ukraine, Russia, Israel, and Mexico. 

Besides his wife and parents, survivors include three sons, Joshua McCoy, Matamoras, Pa., Jordan (Adina) McCoy, Winchester, Ky., and Jacob (Hope) McCoy, Lexington; a brother, Kevin (Peggy) McCoy, Lexington; a sister, Benita (David) Lyons, Lexington; and four grandchildren, Benjamin and Elijah McCoy, and Mary Orman, and Charlotte Lotz.  All that knew him could see and feel his compassion, dedication and joy he lived everyday through his ministry.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Friday, Nov. 15 at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Road, by the Rev. Phillip Horton, Rev. David Horton, and Rev. John Gabbard with burial to follow in the Lexington Cemetery. 

Pallbearers will be Jordan, Jacob, Joshua, and Kevin McCoy, Steven and Timmy Orras, Alex Sizemore, and David Lyons.  Honorary bearers will be James Orras and Johnny David Orras. 

Visitation was from 4 to 10 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.  Memorials are suggested to Faith Missions, P.O. Box 487, Dundee, Fla., 33838, or Champion Holiness Missions, 2109 Champion Ave., Donna, Texas, 75837.
