Astor Adams

NCR retiree

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Astor Adams, 96, Adams Road, Corbin, Ky., passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at the Hillcrest Health and Rehabilition Nursing Home, Corbin, Ky.

Born April 25, 1916 in Beattyville, Ky., he was the son of the late J.D. and Lydia Riley Adams. He was a retired employee from National Cash Register where he worked more than 28 years as a machine operator, a member of Slate Hill Baptist Church, and served his country in the Army and Air Force during World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Ruby Campbell Adams, Adams Road, Corbin; children, Robert Henry Adams, London, Charles Curtis Adams, Miamisburg, Obio, Sheila Ann Kager, Canal Fulton, Onio, and Valeria Kay Lyle, Corbin, Ky.; brothers, Taylor Adams, Arlington, Texas, and Charles Adams, Eaton, Ohio; eight grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 26 in the chapel of House-Rawlings Funeral Home with Bobby Phillips officiating.

Burial followed in Cumberland Memorial Gardens, Lily.
