James Lee Lewis

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — James Lee Lewis, 48, Maple Grove School road, London, Ky., passed away Monday, Sept. 2, 2013, at Compassionate Care Center, Richmond, Ky.

Born Oct. 29, 1964, in Hyden, Ky., he was the son of the late Raymond Lewis and Gladys Howard Lewis, of London.

He was a self-employed heavy equipment operator, a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church, London; a board member for Laurel River Baptist Association; and a member of Brotherhood for Laurel River Baptist Association and Pine Grove Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father; and two brothers, Ed Lewis and Lawrence Lewis.

Survivors include his wife, Amanda (Rowe) Lewis of Maple Grove School Road; a son, Justin Lewis of London; two sisters, Betty Jones and husband Lohren, and Katie Couch and husband Wilkie, both of London; and three brothers, Theo Lewis and wife Doris, Raymond Lewis and wife Barbara, and Ulysses Lewis all of London.

Funeral services for James Lee Lewis were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5 in London Funeral Home Chapel with Bobby Phillips and Jonathan Gregory officiating.

Burial followed at Lickliter Cemetery, Laurel County.

His nephews served as pallbearers.

The family received friends at the funeral home after 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4.

 In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions be made to London Funeral Home toward funeral expense.
