LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Doris Jean House Chaney, 75, London, Ky., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013.
Born Nov. 11, 1937 in Laurel County, Ky., she was the daughter of the late George and Martha Chandler House.
She was retired from the Kentucky Department of Social Services, was a Kentucky Colonel, and a member of Corinth Missionary Baptist Church.
She was united in marriage to Paschal Chaney who survives.
She is also survived by two daughters, Sheila Lichliter and Regina Harris and husband James, both of Corbin; three grandchildren, Regina Sawyers and husband Lonnie Wayne, and Jordan and Justin Harris; a great-grandchild, Blake Sawyers; a brother, Millard House and wife Patricia of London; two sisters-in-law, Leoma Chaney of Corbin and Zelma Bea Chaney of London; plus a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Arthur Lichliter Jr.; and five siblings, Ralph, Charles, Vada, and Rhoda House and Esther Bates.
Funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10 in the chapel of Bowling Funeral Home with Leonard Strunk officiating.
Burial followed in Cumberland Memorial gardens at Lily.
Visitation was observed after 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
