Kathleen Smith Parsley

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Kathleen Smith Parsley, 62, of London, Ky., formally of Stinnett, Ky., passed away Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, at the Hazard ARH Medical Center.

She was born August 11, 1951 in Leslie County, Ky., to the union of the late Roy Smith and the late Rose Collett Smith.

Kathleen spent her formative years in Stinnett, Ky., and had been residing in London, Ky., for the past 25 years. By occupation, she was employed by the Laurel County Detention Center in London. She enjoyed, cooking, singing, traveling and spending time with her family.

Kathleen is preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Lonnie Wayne Smith; and a nephew, Glen Wallace.

She leaves surviving the following relatives, two sons,  Allen Asher (Kim) of Harrodsburg, Ky., and Roy David Collett (Casey Smith) of Louisville, Ky.; twobrothers, Orphas Smith (Janet) of Indianapolis, Ind., and Roy Smith, Jr. (Sandy) of Macon, Ga.; three sisters, Erma Wallace of Stinnett, Ky., Lucille Caldwell of Louisville, Ky., and Hilda Brock (Terry) of Hoskinston, Ky.; three beloved grandchildren, Robby Asher of Harrodsburg, Ky., April Asher of Hazel Green, Ala., and Jeremy Thompson of Lawrenceburg, Ky.; special aunts, Joyce Hoskins and Myrtle Sizemore; special friends, Linda Johnston, Mary Schneider, Vada Young and Mary Howell, all of London, Ky.; plus a host of other family and friends also survive.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3 at the Stinnett Pentecostal Church at Stinnett, Ky., with James Bowling Jr. and Jamie Roberts officiating. Burial followed in the Smith Cemetery at Stinnett, Ky. 

Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home of Hyden, Ky., assisted with arrangements.
