Gladys Jones

First Grade Teacher

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Gladys Jones, 85, London, Ky., passed away Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, at her residence.

Born Aug. 29, 1927 in Clay County, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Charlie Hubbard and Flora Smith. She was a retired Laurel County Board of Education employee, having taught first grade at Lily School, and was a member of Long Branch Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, the Rev. Fountaine Jones; two sons, Ernie Jones and Wayne Jones; and a grandchild, Chris Jones.

Survivors include a daughter, Etna Jones, London; two brothers, Carl Hubbard, Manchester, Ky., and Otis Hubbard, Indiana; two grandchildren, Ernest (Sabrinia) Vanover, and Kevin Jones; and four great-grandchildren, Elijah Wayne Jones, and Victoria, Veronica and Morgan Vanover.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. today, Wednesday, Oct. 10 in the chapel of Bowling Funeral Home with Dennis Gibbs and Todd Parker officiating.

Burial will follow in A.R. Dyche Memorial Park.

Visitation was after 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
