Hazel Smith Weaver


Hazel (Smith) Weaver, 90, of Locust Street, London, Ky., passed away Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013, at Oak Tree Hospital, Corbin, Ky.

Born Nov. 6, 1922 in Clay County, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Dan and Della Hinkle Smith. She was a homemaker and member of Victory Baptist Church, London.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Oscar Weaver; a son, Oscar Weaver Jr.; a grandson, Casey Salyers Jr.; two sisters, Delorie Dugger and Ethel Proffitt; and three brothers, Sammy Smith, Carl Smith and Henry Lee Smith.

Survivors include a daughter, Darlene Salyers, London; two sons, Don Weaver and wife, Donna, and Truman Weaver and wife, Shirley, all of London; a brother, Arnold Smith, London; four sisters, Velma Houston of Indiana, Eula Arthur, Pearl Clontz, both of London, and Juanita House, Indianapolis, Ind.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

The family of Hazel Smith Weaver received friends at London Funeral Home Friday, Aug. 23 from 4 p.m. until the service time of 7 p.m. with Brother David Walters officiating.

Entombment was at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, at Old Salem Cemetery.
