Mary Anna Lee (Parson) Byrd

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Mary Anna Lee (Parson) Byrd, 86, of Whitley Street, London, Ky., passed away Monday, April 29, 2013, at the home of her daughter.

A native of Laurel County, she was born May 27, 1926, the daughter of the late Luther Clarence and Sarah Garland Parson.

She was a retired cook from Marymount Hospital and a member of Laurel Chapel Christian Church.

She was the mother of Barbara French, and Ruth Ann Howard, both of London. The sister of Thelma Buchanan and Otis Parson, both of London, Juanita Sheriff, of Lexington, Ky., Mattie Lou Proffitt, of Huntsville, Ala., Don Parson and Bill Parson, both of Madisonville, Ky., and J.R. Parson, of Fla.; six grandchildren, Deanna White, London, Patrick French, Richmond, Va., Chris French, Lexington, Ky., Jon French, Corbin, James Howard and Jeremy Howard, both of London; and 14 great-grandchildren, Rachael, Katie, Kristen, Julian, Taylor, Lanae, Malia, Ainsley, Mallory, Darby, Piper, Addiy, Kendon and Kaleb.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eugene Allon Byrd; a son, Ronald Dean Byrd;  two brothers, Carl Parson and Clarence Parson Jr.; two sisters, Levennia Metcalf and Geneva Massey; and two great-grandchildren, Stella French and Spencer Howard.

Funeral service for Mary Anna Lee (Parson) Byrd were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 1 in London Funeral Home Chapel with Walter Ballinger and Matt Johnson officiating.

Burial followed in Cumberland Memorial Gardens, Lily.

Grandsons served as pallbearers.

The family received friends at London Funeral Home from 12 noon until the service time of 2 p.m. on Wednesday.
