Darwin “Gene” Tate

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Darwin “Gene” Tate, 51, died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012 at his residence.

He was born in Somerset, Ky., on Jan. 12, 1961 to the late Elizabeth C. Peddicord Tate and Milford Tate of London, Ky. He was a master HVAC and had retired from Verizon, a member of the Buena Vista Baptist Church and a Ham Radio operator with call letters KJ4LHW.

Survivors include his wife,  Cheryl Lynn Tate; two daughters, Ashley Renea and Kayla Danielle; two stepchildren, Chad (Nicole) Martin and Crystal Martin; one brother, Randy (Pat) Tate; one sister, Lee Karen (Jeff) Parks; four grandchildren, Kennedy Rayven Floyd, Mariah Rose Gilliam, Addison Grace Gilliam, and Jayden Shane Martin.

He was preceded in death by a twin brother, David John Tate.

Funeral services were held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home-Harrodsburg Rd., Lexington, Ky., officiated by  Revs. Dennis R. Tate and  Kaywood Morris.

Burial followed in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens.

Visitation was held from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
