LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — John D. Ooten, 70, London, Ky., passed away, Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, at his residence.

Born Feb. 3, 1943 in Rugsby, Tenn., he was the son of the late John Wesley and Ollie Neely Ooten.

He was a retired truck driver for Curry Oil Company and affiliated with Souls Harbor Church.

He is survived by his wife, Trula Adams Ooten, London; two  daughters, Jennifer (Dale) Bessey and Jenell (Robert) Gibson, both of London; a sister, Linda Reece of Louisville, Ky.; two grandchildren, Jessica and Justin Bessey, plus a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, John Wesley and Joe Thomas Ooten, Georgia Ryder, Loretta Strunk, Sandra Reams, and Wilma Littrell.

Funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1 in the chapel of Bowling Funeral Home with Ronnie Ball officiating.

Burial followed in Liberty Cemetery, Laurel County.
