LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Charles David Young, 63, Somerset, Ky., passed away Thursday. Nov. 28, 2013, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 17, 1950 in Laurel County, Ky., the son of the late Charles Young and Coralie Bruner Young, London.
He was a 32nd Degree Mason with the McKee Lodge, past Master, K-9 Officer in the military and K-9 Officer with the Pulaski County Detention Center in Somerset. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and was affiliated with the Methodist Church.
He is survived by his mother; his wife, Arlene Phelps Young; three children, Charles David Young II and Ashleigh, Sarah Catherine Young Carter and Nathan Whatson, and James Ethan Young, all of London; two step-children, David Ray (Melony) Phelps, and Ethan Mathew Hughes, both of Somerset; a brother, John (Sharon) Young; three sisters, Sabra Musick, Susan (Jimmy) Hampton and Sally (T.) Hulett, all of London, also his mother- in-law, Goldie Hughes; eight grandchildren, Shey and husband Logan, John, Jacob, Savannah, Isaac, Abby, Leah and Dustin; and one great-grandchild, Charlee; plus a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral service was conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 2 in the chapel of Bowling Funeral Home with T. Hulett officiating.
Burial followed in Millsprings National Cemetery, Nancy, Ky., with military honors.
Pallbearers were Lee Bruner, Charles David Young II, James Ethan Young, Logan Helton, Nathan Whatson and David Phelps.
Honorary pallbearers were John Young and Jacob Young.
Visitation was from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1 at the funeral home.
