James Donald Sturgill

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — James Donald Sturgill, 74, passed from this life to eternal life on Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012.

He was born on June 4, 1938 in Rockcastle County, Ky., to James Franklin Sturgill and Rebecca Kirby Sturgill, who preceded him in death.  

He was united in marriage to Betty Cox on July 25, 1964 in Jellico, Tenn.  

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother, Harold Sturgill.  

He was an administrative manager for Cloyd & Associates of London.  He was an usher and member of Corinth Baptist Church; a member of the McKee Lodge #144 F&AM, the Oleika Shrine Temple and past president of the Laurel County Kiwanis Club.  

He was the father of Michael A.  (Becky) Sturgill of London; the brother of Sharon (Boyd) Whittaker of London; Shirley (Keith) Bates of Jackson County, Ky.; Louise Morgan of London; Linda (Freddie) Harris of London; Danny Sturgill of Texas; and Dean (Mary) Sturgill of London; and the grandfather of Hannah Brooke Sturgill.  He is also survived by two children and one grandchild from a previous marriage, James Keith Sturgill of Nevada, Cynthia Kureth, and Evan Kureth of Virginia.  

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, Dec. 27 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of House-Rawlings Funeral Home with Rev. Andrew Dyer, Rev. James Blaylock and Rev. Brack Whitaker officiating.  

Burial will follow at A.R. Dyche Memorial Park in London.  

Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 26, at House-Rawlings Funeral Home.  

Masonic services will be held by McKee Lodge #144 F&AM at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at House-Rawlings Funeral Home.
