LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —
Robert Cecil Proffitt, 74, passed away on Thursday, May 2.
He was born on March 19, 1939 in Laurel County, Ky., the son of Mack and Ollie Allen Proffitt, who preceded him in death.
He was a retired employee of GTE, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and a member of the Crosswoods Baptist Church in Nicholasville, Ky.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Frank, Walter Ray, Tilford and Shirley Proffitt and Brenda McKnight.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Christine Hammonds Proffitt; three sons, Robert Alan (Karen) Proffitt of Raleigh, N.C., Brian W. (Heather Ann) Proffitt of Nicholasville, and Steven Kyle (Rebecca) Proffitt of Lexington; two brothers, Don Proffitt of London and Jerry Proffitt of Lebanon, Ohio; three sisters, Joyce Williams and Sandy Davidson, both of London, and Sue Gelvin of Lexington; seven grandchildren, Robbie, Sarah, Katherine, Megan, Gabrielle and Hunter Proffitt and Brett Thomas; plus a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, May 6 at 11 a.m. at Bowling Funeral Home with Bro. Stephen Bruce officiating.
Burial will follow in Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Nicholasville.
Visitation was Sunday at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
