Earl Benjamin Swanner

Retired salesman for Kerns Bakery

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Earl Benjamin Swanner, 84, Ky. 490, East Bernstadt, Ky., passed away Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, at Saint Joseph-London.

A native of Laurel County, he was born April 15, 1927, the son of the late Thomas Swanner and Mary Fisher Swanner Garland. He was a retired salesman for Kerns Bakery, a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Henry Swanner and Otis Swanner.

Survivors include his wife, Rita Alice Fields Swanner, East Bernstadt; a son, Tony (Kay) Swanner, East Bernstadt; a daughter, Tracy (Ron) Shaw, Somerset; a brother, O.D. Swanner, Westmont, Ill.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 30 at London Funeral Home Chapel with Ron Shaw and Jack Rogers officiating.

Burial followed in Philpot-Fields Cemetery, East Bernstadt.

Pallbearers were Randle Fields, Dennis Fields, Carl Fields, Terry Fields, Dee Fields and Ralph Fields.
