Billy Lee Phillips

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Billy Lee Phillips, 65, of East Bernstadt, Ky., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at  Manchester Memorial Hospital, Clay County, Ky.

A Laurel County native, he was born Dec. 7, 1946, the son of the late Robert Richard and Opal Murray Phillips. He was a construction worker and affiliated with the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter, Lois Ann Phillips.

Survivors include his children,  Billy M. “Shorty” Phillips, Estella Phillips, and Robert Richard “Bob” Phillips, all of East Bernstadt; a sister, Anna Lou Runions of London;  wife, Ola Smith-Phillips of Mt. Vernon; a step-daughter, Crystal Smith of Mt. Vernon; nine grandchildren,  Chelsey LeeAnn Smith, Hannah Katelynn McClure, Misty Kaye Wilmot, Jonathan Glen Coots, Tonya MaLenn Coots, Shayla Sueann Phillips, Bobbie LeeAnn Phillips, Jasmine Phillips and Destiny Phillips; and  four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his former wife and mother of his children, Donna Woods of East Bernstadt.

Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14 in the Bowling Funeral Home Chapel with Ova Baker officiating.

Burial followed in Murray Cemetery at East Bernstadt.

Visitation was after 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
