Betty Lou Lehigh

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Betty Lou Lehigh, 78, of London, Ky., formerly of Lancaster, Ohio, died Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, at her residence. 

Born on June 30, 1935, in Montgomery, Ala., she was the daughter of the late Troy and Alma Carter Hill.

She was raised in Pine Mountain, Ky., and attended Berea College.  After college, she married and was left with two little girls and a baby boy to raise on her own, so she moved to Lancaster, Ohio to be near her mother Inez Lacy. She retired from Anchor Hocking Glass Company where she started out as a secretary, going to school and working her way up to sales manager.

She also worked at BBU Services, Albright and finished up her life in London, Ky., working for CSC and several temporary contracts for Senture. She made friends everywhere she went and was an inspiration to us all.

She was a very strong, positive, independent person with the most pleasant personality you would ever meet. Anyone who knew her, loved her and now she lives in the Promised Land and will be truly missed by everyone so much.

She is survived by three children, Celeste Ferguson of Thornville, Ohio, and Kathleen and Mark Lehigh of London; three brothers,  Brent Hill of Jacksonville, Fla., Jack Smallman of Columbus, Ohio and Virgil Lacy of Lancaster, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by two siblings, Lois and Bob Hill.
