Roy N. Chesnut

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Roy N. Chesnut, 86, passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2014.

He was born on March 22, 1928 in Laurel County, Ky., the son of the late Nay and Patty Hamilton Chesnut.

He was united in marriage on February 23, 1948 to Ollie Bowling, his wife of 66 years who survives.

He was a retired farmer and construction worker and was affiliated with the Robinson Creek Baptist Church.

He is also survived by three sons, Wayne Chesnut and wife Tonya, Curtiss Chesnut and wife Judy, and Randy Chesnut and wife Julie; seven daughters, Pat Edwards and husband Lonnie, Betty Rush and husband Larry, Judy Benge and husband R.P., Carol Sensabaugh and husband Jim, Peggy Harville and husband Terry, Tammy Crook and husband Mark, and Lisa Lewis and husband Roger, all of London; one brother, Bobby Chesnut and one sister, Claudia Singleton, both of London; 24 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren; plus a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing including special caregivers and friends, Judy Deaton, Jennifer Howard, Janene Sawyers and Debbie Miles.

Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by siblings, Ernest and Riley Chesnut, Jesse Williams, Frances Gregory and Jewell Winberry; and three grandchildren, Alec, Bailey and Cole Rush.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, April 3 at 11 a.m. at Bowling Funeral Home with the Rev. Troy Boggs officiating.

Burial followed in Rough Creek Cemetery.

Visitation was after 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers were Kyle Edwards, Chad Rush, Brian Chesnut, Chris Edwards, Jamie Crook, and Daniel Benge.

Honorary pallbearers were Justin and James David Sensabaugh, Jared and Braeden Chesnut, Austin Lewis, Rhyan McGee and Mark Bailey.
