Joseph Carpenter

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Joseph Carpenter passed away Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at the age of 85.

He was born to the late John “Speed” and Lula Lipps Carpenter.

Joseph is the beloved husband of Margaret V. Carpenter and loving father to Sandra Carpenter. He is also survived by his sisters, Elsie (Albert) Davis and Callie Davis as well as many loving nieces, nephews, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas “Jay” Carpenter, George Carpenter and Donald Carpenter; sisters, Dorothy Carpenter and Opal Elliot; nephews, Rick Carpenter and David Elliot, and great-nephew Joseph Davis.

He was a proud member of the UAW and worked for GM from 1949 to 1987, he served his country in Korea from 1950 to 1952 and attended the Tri-County Church of the Nazarene.

Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at the Ivey Funeral Home in Hamilton, Ohio with the Rev. Dan Walters officiating.  

Visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday Feb. 13 at the funeral home.
