LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —
Mary C. Woody, 93, of Corbin, Ky., formerly of London, Ky., passed away Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, at St. Joseph London.
She was born Oct. 2, 1918, in Laurel County, Ky., the daughter of the late Laddle Andrew and Ludema Collins Cottongim.
She was united in marriage to George Woody, who preceded her in death on Oct. 2, 1995.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one son, Wayne Woody; two sisters, Rose Brown and Laura Chesnut; four brothers, Tom, Jim, Elmer and Will Cottongim.
She was a homemaker, loving mother and avid gardener, and a member of New Salem Baptist Church.
She is survived by a son, Randy Woody, and wife, Charlene House Woody, of Corbin; a sister, Julia Williams of Corbin; four grandchildren, Robin Kay Cox, April L. Gibson, Derek R. Woody and Eric M. Woody; two step-grandchildren, Stephanie L. Ross and Tracy A. Deaton; her daughter-in-law, Sandra G. Woody of Ashland, Ky.; three great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; plus a host of other friends and relatives to mourn her passing.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3 at New Salem Baptist Church at Pittsburg with Greg Deaton and John Woods officiating.
Burial will follow in the New Salem Cemetery.
The family received friends at New Salem Baptist Church after 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Pallbearers will be Derek and Matthew Woody, Bill and Laddle Cottongim, Fenton Williams and Buddy Chesnut.
Bowling Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
