LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Cecil Herman Byrd, 88, of London, Ky., passed away on Friday, March 28, 2014, at Saint Joseph London.
He was born February 15, 1926 in McWhorter, Ky., the son of the late Walter and Bessie Murrell Byrd.
He was an air condition and refrigeration specialist, a member of the Community Christian Church in London, and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Irene Byrd; and brothers, Eugene Byrd, Glenn Byrd and Ralph Byrd.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lorene Cornn Byrd of London; his daughters, Beverly Marcum of Owenton, Ky., and Brenda Higgins of Elizabethtown, Ky.; sisters, Ruth Parker of Chattanooga, Tenn., Lois Campbell of London, and Janice Rush of Cincinnati, Ohio; and two grandchildren, Tyler Harris of Elizabethtown, Ky., and Ashton Marcum of Owenton, Ky.
Funeral services were held on Monday, March 31 at 2 p.m. at London Funeral Home Chapel with Keith Short officiating.
Burial followed in the Locust Grove Cemetery, Keavy.
Visitation was held at the funeral home Monday at 11 a.m. until the funeral hour.
Pallbearers were Tyler Harris, Tim Marcum, Mark Adams, Homer Bowling, Joey Marcum and Rod Sears.
