Gladola Fields Barton

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Gladola Fields Barton, 93, a life-long London, Ky., resident, passed away of natural causes at her home on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013. 

She was born on Sept. 22, 1919, in Clay County, Ky., the daughter of the late Hubert and Mary Warner Fields. 

She was united in marriage to James Neil Barton, who preceded her in death. 

She is survived by a sister, Celestine Fields Ramsaur of Jackson, Tenn.; a brother,  Dr. Hubert Fields Jr. of Louisville, Ky.; plus a host of other friends and relatives to mourn her passing. 

In addition to her parents and husband, she is also preceded in death by three sisters, Miss Eula Fields, Mrs. Jewell Williams and Mrs. Gerene Stevens.

Glad, as she was known to her family and many of her friends, was a member of First Christian Church. During her career, Mrs. Barton held several significant administrative positions. Along with her husband, they managed several investment rental properties around London and Jim managed the J. B. Dick Five and Dime.

Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20 in the Bowling Funeral Home Chapel with Darrell Hathcock officiating.

Burial followed in A.R. Dyche Memorial Park.
