Ronald Robert Reigel

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Ronald Robert Reigel, 71, of London, Ky., passed away Monday, Aug 19, 2013, at the VA Medical Center in Lexington.

Born Nov 28, 1941, in Olean, N.Y., he was the son of the late Orin and Willa Hoover Reigel. 

On Feb 22, 1964, he was united in marriage to Sylvia Knight Reigel, who survives of London.  He is also survived by three children,  Laura Allen and husband, Frankie, and Ronald Reigel Jr., all of London, and Jason Reigel of Hyden, Ky.,, four grandchildren,  Ashley Terry and husband, Sgt. Brian Terry, Alexis Hope Reigel, Noah James Reigel and Malachi Hicks; two great-grandchildren,  Ethan and Balin Terry; a special niece, Debbie Cline and husband, Mitch, of Geneva, Ohio; plus a host of other friends and relatives to mourn his passing. 

He was a veteran serving three tours in Vietnam, six years in the United States Navy, six years in the Kentucky Army National Guard, where he received many commendations, and a lifetime member of the DAV. He was also a lifetime member of Bass Masters and participated in several professional bass tournaments.  He was an avid outdoorsman, a natural herbalist and had a special interest in the study of the stars and planets. 

In 1981, he was transferred with Dresser Manufacturing, moving his family from Bradford, Pa., to Berea, Ky.  While living in Berea, he attended classes at Eastern Kentucky University, majoring in geology. He was a member of Cornerstone Assembly of God. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Bowling Funeral Home from 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24 until the 2 p.m. funeral hour with Dr. Troy Boggs officiating.

Burial will follow in the Black Cemetery, Laurel County.

Military honors will be conducted by the local DAV.

Pallbearers will be Sgt. Brian Terry, Ronald and Jason Reigel, Brad Roark, Frankie Allen and Sgt. Ian Leclaire.
