Stella Mae Owens

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Stella Mae Owens, 81, of London, Ky., passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at her residence.  

She was born on July 9, 1931, in Laurel County, Ky., the daughter of the late John Wesley and Gracie Jackson Brummett.  

She was united in marriage to Edmond L. Owens, who survives of London.  She is also survived by five children,  Lee Roy Owens and wife, Ruby Jean, Clara Eulene Owens, James Edward Owens and Rita Faye Collins and husband, Jeff, all of London, and Millie Mae Bowman of Hamilton, Ohio; two sisters, Edna Faye Rigsby of Marion, Ind., and Vena Grimes of London; three brothers,  Melvin and Delbert Brummett, both of Marion, Ind., and Frank Brummett of London; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren, plus a host of other friends and relatives to mourn her passing.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by three sisters, Vercie Payne, Dolly Hammack and Hazel Marie Brummett; five brothers, Calvin, Charles, George, Eddie and Jesse Brummett; and her son-in-law, Wayne Bowman.

She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends at Bowling Funeral Home after 6 p.m. today, Friday, July 5.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 6 in the Bowling Funeral Home Chapel with Dennis Hammack and Jamie Krahenbuhl officiating.  

Burial will follow in the East Colony Cemetery, Laurel County.

Pallbearers will be Melvin Coots, Doug Brummett, Kevin Tollar, Rick Hampton, Charles Brummett and Nathan Grimes.
