Tilmon Albert Owens

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Tilmon Albert Owens, 74, of London, Ky., passed away Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at Laurel Heights Home for the Elderly. 

He was born in Mt. Vernon, Ky., March 23, 1938 the son of Albert Cash and Thelma Riddle Owens. 

He retired as a bridge construction supervisor for RR Dawson Bridge Company after more than 45 years of service.  He loved hunting and fishing, UK basketball, and auto racing, and was a member of the Chestnut Ridge Church of Christ.

Family members include, his mother, Thelma Owens;  a special companion, Elaine Hansel, with whom he loved sharing his church and other activities;  two sisters, Debbie Oliver  and Jimmy of London and Vonnie Mink and special friend, Willis Durham of Livingston;  and four brothers, Norman Owens and Sue of Mt. Vernon, Delbert Owens and Glenda of New Port, Va., Alvin Owens and Ann of Louisville, and the late A.B. Owens and Verla.

Also surviving are several nieces and nephews; and his special buddy, his dog, “Elwood.”

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4 at the Chestnut Ridge Church of Christ in Mt. Vernon by Brothers Ova Baker, Phillip Scott, and Dale McNew. 

Burial followed in the Lovell Cemetery.

Friends called at the Dowell & Martin Funeral Home from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday and after 12 noon Tuesday at the church.
