Ralph Butcher

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Ralph Butcher, 72, of Wyan Road, London, Ky., passed away Thursday. Jan. 3, 2013, at his residence.  

Born April 25, 1940 in Laurel County, Ky., he was the son of the late Bill and Cordia McFarland Butcher.

He was a retired electrician, a U.S. Army veteran and of the Baptist faith.

He was the husband of Eva  Adkins Greer Butcher; the father of Sheila Butcher of Barbourville, Robert (Michele) Butcher of White Pine, Tenn., and Evelyn (Scott) Bradshaw of Henryville, Ind.; and the step-father of Debbie (David) Gilliam and Wayne (Jeanette) Greer all of London. Several grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, Roy Butcher and Golden Sturgill.

Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6 in the chapel of Bowling Funeral Home with Denzil Taylor officiating.  

Burial followed in the Tanyard Cemetery in Barbourville, Ky.

Pallbearers were Sammie and Tony Cox, Drinnon Womble, Steven Mills, and Tim and Roy Bentley.

Visitation for Ralph Butcher was held after 6 p.m. Saturday at the Bowling Funeral Home.
