Nick Shannon (shown here against Clay Co.) scored 23 points in North Laurel's win over Louisville Doss.

GEORGETOWN—The North Laurel Jaguars had two choices after being handed one of their worse losses of the season to Scott County in the first round of the Toyota Classic on Wednesday night: To give up or battle back, and the Jaguars proved they are not giving up as they defeated Louisville Doss 74-69 on Thursday night.

“I’m happy with the way they battled back,” North Laurel coach Jim Conway said. “I was proud of the way they didn’t hang their heads after a tough loss.”

The Jaguars attacked the Dragons with what appeared to be a three headed monster as Nick Shannon, Josh Seidel and Luke Dalton combined for 59 points. Shannon led all scores with 23 points while Seidel added 19 points and Dalton chipped in 17 points on the night.

“They really played a solid game,” Conway said. “They stepped up and that is what we needed from them.”

The Jaguars controlled the game until a late rally during the fourth quarter helped the Dragons close the gap to five points. The Jaguars outscored the Dragons in each of the first three quarters to build a 58-47 advantage with eight minutes remaining to play.

The Jaguars connected on 20 of 33 shots from the field, while going 19-26 from the charity stripe.

The Jags hosted Whitley Co. on Sunday, and will host Corbin Tuesday night.
