The South Middle Cardinals invited a basketball team, but got a bunch of Warriors as the Southern Pulaski Warriors took two of three games on Monday night.

In sixth grade action the Cardinals could not buy a basket on the damage and reduced rack as they missed shot after shot on their way to a 37-28 loss.

The Cardinals competed the whole game, but could not get into their full court press with missed shots. The Warriors took an 8-6 advantage after one quarter and never trailed.

The Cardinals trailed by four points at the half, but were outscored 10-5 in the third quarter. Tyler Grubb stepped up in the fourth quarter with six of his 11 points on the night. Brent Miller chipped in eight points on the night.

In seventh grade action it was revenge time for the Cardinals as they dominated in a 64-23 blowout win.

The Cardinals used full court pressure to jump out to a 16-6 advantage and did not let up. Alex Sears dominated both sides of the ball with several steals and 20 points on the night.

The Cardinals outscored the Warriors 15-8 during the second quarter, but put on the pressure defense in the third quarter to pull out to a 50-16 advantage before sending in the subs.

In eight grade action the Warriors fought back and came away with a 64-25 victory over the Cardinals.

The Cardinals struggled to handle the pressure defense by the Warriors and turned the ball over too many times to compete.

The Warriors pulled out on top 19-6 after one quarter of play and took a commanding 29-9 advantage into the lockerroom.

The Cardinals were outscored 19-4 during the third quarter, but did give up as they managed to score 12 points in the final period of play.
