Lady Jags continue to roll

North Laurel downs Rockcastle Co., 6-1

MT. VERNON—The No. 2 ranked North Laurel Lady Jaguars picked up a 6-1 win at Rockcastle County on Tuesday night as they continue to gain momentum in search of the cruise control button they were using before their long layoff.

“It going to take a few days to get back where we were,” North Laurel coach Shane Weaver said. “We are just getting back into the groove. We are not back yet, but we are getting there.”

Abby Sears picked up her 16th win of the season for a 16-5 record while only allowing one hit.

Haley Hensley got things started in the second inning with an RBI double for the 1-0 advantage. The Jaguars took a 4-0 advantage in the third inning.

Kensey Woods hit a two run double for the 3-0 lead. Courtney Brock smacked an RBI single for the 4-0 advantage.

“They each find a way to contribute,” Weaver said. “Courtney is a catalyst when we can get her on base on use her speed. She is a very important part of our lineup.”

The Jaguars added two more runs in the top of the sixth inning. Brittany Lawson singled up the middle for a couple of RBI’s and the 6-0 lead.

“I’m pleased with the win,” Weaver said. “We are looking forward to getting some practice in and just getting back in the groove of things.”

The Lady Jaguars were scheduled to host Southwestern last night, and will play Heath and Anderson Co. this Saturday in the Thrill in the ‘Ville in Louisville.
