LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —
A Laurel man is scheduled for a pretrial hearing in Laurel District Court on charges that he held his wife against her will.
James A. Boggs, 29, of 215 Old Union Church Road in London, was arrested around 8:30 p.m. Sunday after Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputy Steve Hoskins answered a call concerning a dispute between Boggs and his wife their residence. There, he found Boggs standing outside his wife’s vehicle, holding the door open but not allowing her to leave.
Although Boggs did comply with Hoskins’ request to move away from the vehicle, Boggs explained he and his wife were going through a divorce and he did not want his wife to leave with their child.
Boggs was escorted to the Laurel County Detention Center on charges of second-degree unlawful imprisonment.
He was released from jail on Monday afternoon after a family member posted a $2,500 surety bond on his behalf, which was a part of the conditions listed for his release. Boggs was also ordered to stay on home incarceration following his release and to have no contact with his estranged wife and to stay away from her residence.
