Man stabbed on Fariston Road

Second stabbing incident over Labor Day weekend occurs on Ky. 312

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Laurel County Sheriff’s Office was busy over the holiday weekend with two stabbings, one fatal traffic crash, and numerous domestic violence complaints. One stabbing occurred on Saturday on Fariston Road and another occurred on Sunday on Ky. 312.

Detective Charlie Loomis is investigating a stabbing which occurred on Fariston road, two miles south of London, on Saturday around 9:30 p.m.

The victim was Christopher Lewis, 31, of Fariston Road.

Senior Sgt. Greg Poynter, Deputy Robbie Grimes, Deputy Kirk Mays, and Deputy Brett Reeves responded to a complaint that a man had been stabbed on Fariston Road, between two residences.

When the deputies arrived at the scene, they found Lewis seriously stabbed under the armpit by a knife. He was airlifted from the scene to the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.

A male left the scene before deputies arrived and has not been questioned yet about the incident.

According to the investigation so far, it is believed an argument occurred between Lewis and another man, which later resulted in an altercation and then the stabbing.

Chief Deputy Eddy Sizemore assisted on the investigation at the scene.  Detective Loomis is continuing his investigation.  Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County assisted at the scene.

A second incident occurred on Ky. 312 Sunday around 5 a.m.

Deputy Brett Reeves and Deputy Kirk Mays were called to an apparent stabbing on Ky. 312, 10 miles south of London.

The victim, Randal Jenkins, age not known, of Corbin, received a cut on the neck following an altercation in his Chevrolet Tahoe.

Deputies arrested Michael Alsip, 50, of Douglas Avenue, Corbin, and charged him with first-degree assault. He was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.

Apparently, Jenkins was driving on Ky. 312 when Alsip cut him with a knife, causing the wound on his neck. Alsip fled the scene into the woods nearby, but came back to the scene after deputies arrived. Jenkins was taken by a family member to Baptist Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Chief Deputy Eddy Sizemore assisted in the investigation, which is continued by Detective Zanet.
