LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —
A London man was discovered with a large amount of cash and pills following a DUI traffic stop on Ky. 770 Thursday.
Jeffery G. House, 50, of Fariston Road, was charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense; and operating a motor vehicle under the influence, second offense.
Laurel County Sheriff’s Senior Sgt. Greg Poynter and Deputy Robbie Grimes were dispatched to a scene of a possible DUI on Ky. 770, 13 miles south of London, on Thursday at 9:27 p.m. A white Nissan Maxima, driven by House, was reportedly “all over the road.”
Deputies conducted a traffic stop and determined House was driving under the influence. Police also found two prescription pill bottles filled for House on September 5 — one bottle for 150 oxycodone pills that only had 26 pills left in the bottle, and the other for 60 Alprazolam that only had 29 pills remaining. House also had a large amount of cash on him. According to the police report, House could not explain the missing pills, nor where he got the money because he is unemployed.
He was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
Detective Jason Back is continuing the investigation. KSP Trooper Jack Riley assisted deputies at the scene.
