Close call on Ky. 192

Truck flips due to rain-slick roads

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Five people narrowly escaped serious injury when a white Dodge Dakota pickup truck overturned in a ditch line along Ky. 192, 11 miles south of London, around noon on Friday.

According to a report from the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office, the vehicle was headed east when 57-year-old Marilyn Banks of Edinburgh, Ind., lost control while navigating a curve on the rain-slick roadways, hitting a bank and overturning. Banks and another passenger were transported to Saint Joseph London by Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County. Three other people, including one child, were not injured. All five had exited the vehicle before emergency personnel arrived, according to Hale.

Responding at the scene were Laurel County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Milton Storm, who continues the investigation into the accident; Laurel County Emergency Management Director Abby Hale; and members of the London-Laurel County Rescue Squad; Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County; and Bald Rock Volunteer Fire Department.
