LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —
A Lexington man who was pulled over for speeding soon had more than a speeding ticket to worry about.
Michael T. Osborne, 49, was traveling on Interstate 75 near the 36-mile marker around 8 p.m. Saturday when he was pulled over by Kentucky State Police Vehicle Enforcement Officer Mike Hamblin.
Hamblin suspected Osborne was under the influence and initiated an investigation. Osborne gave consent for a search of his vehicle and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer Laundry Collett and his K-9 partner, Medusa, arrived at the scene to conduct a free-air sniff search around the vehicle.
Medusa alerted officers to the trunk of the vehicle where a duffle bag contained several individually wrapped baggies of marijuana. Behind the driver’s seat inside the 2012 Lincoln Mark VIII, officers found a fully loaded .380 caliber semi-automatic pistol and a small baggie of marijuana.
Osborne was charged with speeding, driving under the influence of intoxicants, possession of drug paraphernalia, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, and trafficking in marijuana, 8 ounces to 5 pounds.
