Missing Indiana family found

Father, children unharmed

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — An Indiana man and his two children missing since Monday were found unharmed early Tuesday morning, just a mile from where their mini-van was parked along Interstate 75.

A press release from the London Post 11 of the Kentucky State Police states that Michael Mann and his two children were seen walking along the interstate near the 49-mile marker around 7:41 a.m. Tuesday. KSP Lieutenant John Yates was close to the area and spotted the family and took them to the London Post. The press release states that all three were unharmed but the children were being checked by EMS personnel as a precaution.

Mann’s family became concerned when he did not arrive at his mother’s house in Versailles as planned on Monday. When his mini-van was found abandoned along the Interstate, his family was worried about his mental stability, since he suffers from Bipolar Disorder.

“The kids are his life when he’s in his right mind, but he’s sick,” said his father, Barry Mann, in a television interview with Hazard’s WYMT-TV.

The area near where the van was left was searched but cadaver dogs failed to find a scent. Police said there were no signs that Mann and the children had gone into the woods.

A tip later that evening stated that someone had spotted a man and two children walking along the Interstate on Monday evening but attempts to locate the family were futile until the incident on Tuesday morning.
