LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —
Despite having a young child inside her vehicle, a London woman initiated a high-speed chase that wound around the backroads of the county until she was boxed in near the Rockcastle County campground on London Dock Road.
The chase with 42-year-old Tracey House of 2200 Pine Top Road in London also involved damages to a Bald Rock Volunteer Fire Department truck and two London Police cruisers.
House was reported to London Police on Friday when she was seen inside the London Walmart Supercenter and appeared to be intoxicated. When London Police Officer Ryan Jackson arrived at the scene, he was told the 1996 Chevy Tracker driven by House had left the Walmart parking lot at a high rate of speed.
Jackson then began a search for the vehicle and tried to make a traffic stop. The driver pulled into the Kmart parking lot and stopped but took off again when Jackson exited his vehicle to question her. Again going at high speed, House took the Market Place Spur Road that leads from Kmart to the exit by Lowe’s Home Improvement store onto Ky. 363. House reportedly headed south on Ky. 363, passing vehicles at high speeds in no-passing zones.
After traveling along Ky. 363 for some distance, House then turned onto Ky. 552, with officers in pursuit before turning west onto Ky. 192.
As various officers assisted in the chase, House continued along Ky. 192 to Ky. 1193 and then onto Ky. 3497, known as London Dock Road. Once on the dead-end road, House was blocked in by emergency vehicles at the Rockcastle River campground.
However, House wasn’t willing to give up easily and began struggling with officers to avoid being arrested. Officers located the 7-year-old child in the back seat of the vehicle, unharmed.
House is now charged with first-degree fleeing and evading police, eight counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, criminal mischief, second offense DUI, resisting arrest, disregarding a stop sign, failure to wear seat belts, and speeding 26 mph or more over the limit. She was arraigned in Laurel District Court on Monday and was placed under a $25,000 cash bond with a preliminary hearing set for Aug. 7.
