LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —
On the last day of 2012, a fire erupted at 112 Carson Lane off west Ky. 1376 in East Bernstadt. No one was reported to be injured, but the incident was a total loss.
According to the Crossroads and East Bernstadt Volunteer Fire Departments, heavy smoke and flames lit up the night sky around 1:26 a.m. Dec. 31, giving way to the fire's location. Fire fighters entered the mobile home and contained the fire to the living room area. The rest of the home received smoke and water damage. Firefighters had to pull down ceiling and dry wall in various places to check if the fire had spread.
Crossroads Volunteer Fire Department responded with one pumper and one taker with 10 firemen. East Bernstadt Volunteer Fire Department responded with one pumper and one rescue truck with six members.
Also assisting at the time of the fire was the Laurel County Division of Public Safety, Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County, Jackson County RECC, and the Ky. Highway Department who salted the freezing water upon the road.
