LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —
A London man was indicted by a Laurel grand jury on Friday for posting videos of minor-age children engaging in sexual performances.
Harold E. Givens, 63, of 114 Oak Street in London, faces two counts of distribution of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor on Oct. 8 and Oct. 12, and four counts of distribution of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor age child. The dates of those offenses are listed in the indictment as having occurred on Nov. 3 and three incidents on Dec. 12.
The investigation by the Kentucky State Police revealed Givens had videos of children involved in sexual performances on his computer. When police confiscated the computer, they found three videos that involved a child between age 8 and 10, between age 8 and 12 and between ages 4 to 6. The graphic nature of the videos involved numerous sexual activities including oral and anal sex and sexual intercourse with an adult male.
Givens was arrested on Dec. 12 by Kentucky State Police. Jail records indicate Givens spent just over an hour in the Laurel Detention Center before his bond was posted and he was released. His bond was set at $10,000 at 10 percent, or $1,000 cash.
Two other persons were indicted Friday for abuse of minor-age children.
Mercedes Shila Dean, 21, of 6763 Slate Ridge Road in Lily, is charged with first-degree criminal abuse and second-degree assault on an 11-month-old child on Sept. 11, 2012. The indictment states that Dean intentionally abused the child and placed it in a situation of “danger of death or serious physical injury” and also struck the child in the head, again “causing serious physical injury.”
William McKay, 57, of 197 Mill Creek Road in Corbin, was indicted for first-degree sexual abuse. He is accused of subjecting a five-year-old child to sexual contact “through the use of forcible compulsion,” according to the indictment.
Other indictments returned by the February session of a Laurel grand jury can be found in the Wed., Feb. 20 edition of The Sentinel-Echo.
