Copper Penny to host Bridal Expo Saturday

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — The Copper Penny of London is hosting the 2013 Southeast Kentucky’s Premiere Bridal Expo on Saturday, Jan. 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to help with a bride’s every nuptial need.

More than 15 vendors will be available including local florists, venues, photographers, a photo-booth, wedding planners, wedding attire, caterers, event rentals, wedding party gifts, honeymoon planning and salons.

“We handle all the small details so the bride can focus on more important things the week of the wedding. We don’t want the bride to have to worry,” said Bo Ryser-Kleman of The Copper Penny.

When it comes to planning for the big day, Kleman said to begin one year before the wedding.

“Many brides are newly engaged and wanting to get married this summer/fall, so they must begin the planning now to have the wedding of their dreams. Many of the June/July dates get booked early for many vendors, so the earlier the booking the better,” Kleman suggested.

All brides want to feel special on their wedding day and The Copper Penny makes it their mission to make them feel more beautiful than they ever have before. In addition, they want to take away all the added stresses, starting with finding the perfect dress, and the vendors at Saturday’s Expo will do the rest.

Many wedding gowns range from a heaping $400-$3,000. The Copper Penny’s mission is to help brides choose the right silhouette before they say ‘yes’ to the dress. At the London store, the average gown costs approximately $800.

“When trying on wedding gowns, there are four (basic) silhouettes. We encourage you to try each silhouette,” Kleman said. “Once you find the one that most flatters you, we begin to search for your favorite fabric, embellishments, color, etc.”

After finding the perfect dress, she said the next step for brides is to find a venue and create a budget. Within a struggling economy, many brides have cut their budgets in half. Finding a free venue is prime, such as a church or home.

According to The Wedding Report Inc., the average number of guests at a wedding add up to 140, so forking out the cash for catering on a tight budget may cause some brides to turn to DIY meals and projects, Kleman said.

“Many are skipping the meal and opting for a cake-only reception,” she added.

One thing Kleman suggested a bride never to skimp on is photography.

“You will want to have these memories for the rest of your life and a good photographer can capture them for you. If you are on a tight budget, I would recommend revisiting your guest list. It is the quickest way to cut costs,” she said.

The 2013 Southeast Kentucky’s Premier Bridal Expo is free to the public and will be located in the basement of The Copper Penny at 209 N. Main St. There will be giveaways.
