Burglar hails taxi cab to flee scene

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — A Knox County man stole cash and a laptop from the home of his estranged wife Wednesday and then called a taxi cab to come pick him up.

Bradley Hill, 28, was arrested and charged with second-degree burglary and theft by unlawful taking. He was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.

Allegedly, Hill entered the home of his estranged wife through a basement door and stole cash belonging to her and an $800 HP laptop computer belonging to his former sister-in-law. He then fled the scene in a cab he called to pick him up.

Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputy James Sizemore was dispatched to the burglary in progress on Moriah Church Road, seven miles west of London, on Wednesday afternoon at about 1 p.m.

When Deputy Sizemore arrived at the scene, he learned  Hill had fled the scene in a taxi cab.

Deputies contacted the cab company and were told they had picked up a customer on Moriah Church Road. The cab was asked to pull off the roadway and wait for Sheriff’s deputies.

Deputy Sizemore, Sgt. Josh Gaylor, and  London Police Officer Ritchie Reynolds took Hill into custody on North Main Street at 1:20 p.m.

Sgt. Greg Poynter assisted at the arrest scene.
