LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —
Two Laurel Countians were arrested Thursday after police found 13 marijuana plants in an apartment.
Melissa A. Mills, 37, and Lawrence C. Bentley, 31, both of London, were charged with cultivating in marijuana, five plants or more, first offense; and trafficking in marijuana, eight ounces or less than five pounds, first offense.
Captain Kenny R. Jones and Officer Jordan Hopkins of the London Police Department arrived at Laurel Square Apartments on West Carter Road off U.S. 25 Thursday after they received a call from the apartment manager. There, police discovered six marijuana plants resting in the window of Mills’ apartment. After searching the residence, they also confiscated more marijuana plants, a total of 13, as well as approximately 1.6 pounds of marijuana inside an open closet.
Both were lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
Officer Jordan Hopkins is continuing the investigation. Assisting at the scene were Chief Stewart Walker, Sgt. Randy Medlock and Officer Justin Roby.
