LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —
The man police sought after he fled the scene of a stabbing turned himself in to police Thursday night.
William Joshua Tyler Smallwood, age 18, of Collins Cemetery Road in Manchester turned himself in to police in London and was charged with first-degree assault. He was taken to the Laurel Detention Center following his arrest.
Smallwood was wanted for questioning regarding the stabbing of 44-year-old Tommy Smith at a residence on Payne Trail, two miles east of London. The stabbing came about after Smallwood and Smith reportedly argued on Tuesday, with Smallwood coming back to Smith’s home on Wednesday, ending with Smith’s stabbing.
Smith suffered a stab wound to the abdomen and was flown from the scene to University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.
Laurel Sheriff’s Detective Daryl Zanet is heading the investigation into the incident. He was assisted at the scene by Laurel County Sheriff Chief Deputy Eddy Sizemore.
