LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —
The World Chicken Festival Grand Parade is held on Saturday at 10 a.m. during the festival. Grand Parade festivities begins on Main Street in downtown London. The 2012 Parade Theme is “Celebrating Our Youth.”
Parade contestants are judged and awarded in the following categories: business; civic-club-organization; religious organization; youth club-organization; and most creative.
Awards are presented Saturday night on the Stage of Stars on Broad Street.
The grand parade organizes and begins at 17th and Main Streets, just north of the festival, and ends at Carnaby Square Shopping Center, just south of the festival.
In the event of bad weather, officials may delay startup one hour, or cancel without rescheduling. Radio stations will make announcements, as will as festival committee members over public address system on Main Street. Should weather cancel Saturday's parade, it will be rescheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday.
For safety considerations, the following parade entry regulations apply:
No candy or treats may be thrown from any entry.
Festival officials reserve the right to reject, or evict, any entry that is not in the best interest of the World Chicken Festival. The decision of the festival officials is final.
Cars may participate if they are decorated in keeping with the parade theme (this excludes antique car clubs, etc.). Horses (individual and on horse-drawn wagons) and mules are required to have diapers to be in the parade, no exceptions.
Parade begins at 17th and Main Streets. Check-in and lineup time is two hours prior to parade time. Everyone who registered for the parade should be assembled and in their numbered position.
The World Chicken Festival assumes no responsibility for accidents, injuries or loss from any cause.
