LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —
The birth mother who allegedly traded her child for a 13-year-old pickup truck is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in Laurel District Court on Tuesday morning.
Heather Kaminsky, 28, was returned to Laurel County late Thursday night and lodged in the Laurel Detention Center. Kaminsky was being sought on a felony charge for human trafficking with a child under age 18 after Laurel Sheriff’s officials became aware that she traded her newborn son for a used pickup truck earlier this year.
Kaminsky was arrested in Putnam County, Florida after a joint effort between the Laurel Sheriff’s Office, Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, and the U.S. Marshall’s Office.
Laurel Sheriff’s Detective Charlie Loomis made the 700 mile trip to Florida to return Kaminsky to London where she will answer to charges of human trafficking of her child, now six months old, to Jeremy and Jamiee Brown.
At her arraignment hearing on Friday morning, Kaminsky was scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Tuesday. She is held under $50,000 cash bond with the condition of home incarceration if the bond is posted on her behalf.
Kaminsky has other pending charges including methamphetamine-related charges. Detectives Jason Back and Brad Mitchell are continuing the investigation into those incidents.
