LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —
A Laurel man was flown to a Lexington hospital for serious injuries sustained in a one-vehicle accident on Tom Cat Trail Thursday afternoon.
Although he was driving a blue Chevrolet car, the color was hardly determinable after 53-year-old Eddie Nolan lost control in a curve and crashed into a tree top before hitting a ditch line.
Nolan, of Pine Hill Brock Road in London, was flown to the University of Kentucky Medical Center with multiple and serious injuries following the crash that occurred at 1 p.m. on Tom Cat Trail, five miles east of London. He was listed in critical condition on Friday.
Information released by the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office stated a witness saw the vehicle traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed on Ky. 1305, crossing over into the westbound lane in a curve, and running off the left shoulder of the roadway. The car overturned onto its top, crashing into a tree top before coming to rest in a ditch.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation by Sgt. E.R. Rudder. He was assisted at the scene by Deputy Shane Rice, Constable Tim May, and members of Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County, the London-Laurel County Rescue Squad and the Bush Volunteer Fire Department.
