LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —
An argument between two men resulted in one being flown to a Lexington hospital for stab wounds and the other facing possible felony charges.
Laurel County Sheriff’s Detective Sgt. Tommy Johnston is heading the investigation into the incident which occurred just before 10 p.m. Wednesday.
A press release from the sheriff’s office states a complaint of a knife stabbing had taken place at a residence on Park Street in Lily, seven miles south of London. On arrival to the residence, sheriff’s deputies found 22-year-old Jason Hallock suffering from numerous stab wounds. He was taken by Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County to Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin, then flown to the University of Kentucky Medical Center. Officials at the Lexington hospital said Hallock had been released on Thursday morning.
The investigation by sheriff’s officials revealed that Hallock, of Park Street in Lily, had been involved in an argument with 27-year-old Russell Hibbard, also of Park Street in Lily. Hibbard allegedly stabbed Hallock several times with a knife.
Johnston is continuing the investigation into the circumstances of the stabbing incident and the case will be presented to the next session of a Laurel grand jury for possible indictment on felony charges.
Assisting on the scene were Laurel Sheriff’s Detective Daryl Zanet, Senior Sgt. Greg Poynter, Deputy Brett Reeves, Deputy Shawn Boroviak, and Deputy Robbie Grimes, as well as EMTs from Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County.
