LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. —
A two-vehicle head-on collision on Ky. 363 near Cross Keys Subdivision Friday morning resulted in only minor injuries for the drivers.
Laurel County Sheriff’s Sgt. Josh Gaylord said a gray 1997 Dodge Intrepid, driven by Donald Manning, 62, of 74 Harris Lane, was driving south when he ran off the right shoulder, overcorrected and ran head-on into Jonathan McClure, 22, of 667 Hart Church Road, who was driving a black 2005 Toyota Camry.
McClure was hit in the driver’s side mirror. Since he could not remember the accident, a CT scan was done at Saint Joseph London, but it came out normal. His mother, Donna McClure, said he had left school and was on his way to work at Benqueil’s Jewelry in London at the time of the accident.
Both cars were severely damaged.
“We’re just thankful he is alive,” Donna McClure said. “I’ve seen cars less damaged that were fatals.”
The roadway was blocked for about a hour.
