Woman dies from stabbing

Boyfriend charged with murder

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Blood smeared on the front door and just inside the entrance of Apt. No. 26 in Thunderbird Apartments is just a slight indicator of the violence that led to the death of a Laurel woman late Monday night.

Pamela Honeycutt Bobbitt, 25, of South Laurel Road, died at Saint Joseph London from multiple stab wounds to her back, chest, wrist and jaw. Her boyfriend, 34-year-old Sean D. Messer, also of South Laurel Road, is lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center, charged with murder stemming from domestic violence. He is held under a $250,000 cash bond.

London Police Chief Stewart Walker refused to speak with a Sentinel-Echo reporter about the incident, however, according to the news broadcast from Hazard’s WYMT-TV, London Police were called to the scene around 11 p.m. Monday about a fight occurring at the residence. Upon arriving, they found Bobbitt suffering from stab wounds and a male subject was seen running from the scene. Police learned that Bobbitt’s car was at a car dealership across the road being worked on and they believed Messer might show up there. A surveillance on her vehicle proved successful, as Messer arrived at the dealership a few hours later and was arrested.

David Honeycutt, father of the victim, said his daughter had been trying to break up with Messer, who is the father of her youngest child. He described Messer as a very dominant and possessive person who often threatened to hurt Bobbitt as well as his own two-year-old child.

Looking at the blood stain on the front door of the apartment and the uneaten food from McDonald’s scattered on the lawn, Honeycutt said the fight began because Bobbitt rode to McDonald’s with her sister, who has custody of Bobbitt’s two- and four-year-old children. Honeycutt said his other daughter lives in an apartment nearby and apparently Messer became angry because she went with her sister.

“She didn’t even get to eat her food,” Honeycutt said. “It’s still laying here on the ground. He must have come out and started on her before she got in the house. The guy who lives two doors down was here (Russell), and so was Ashley (Bobbitt’s sister) and the two kids. They called me and I could hear them screaming. He (Messer) tried to stab Ashley and Russell because they tried to help Pam.”

Honeycutt said Messer ran from the scene but was caught later on when he went to the Tincher-Williams car dealership where Bobbitt’s car was being worked on.

“He tried to steal her car,” said Bobbitt’s aunt, Mary Ison. “Pam was one of the sweetest people. She would do anything she could to help anybody. She told us she was trying to get away from him but he would threaten her and tell her if she tried to leave he would kill her and the baby.”

The children were unharmed and placed with family members. Court records indicated Messer had been in family court for domestic violence previously.

Arresting officers were London Police Major Derek House and Sgt. Jessie Williams.

Detective Sgt. Allen Harris is continuing the investigation.
