The health departments hopes to establish a five-year strategic Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) to address top concerns regarding health issues.

An ongoing investigation is taking place after an inmate at the Madison County Detention Center escaped the facility over the weekend.

According to Jailer Steve Tussey, a female inmate incarcerated for non-violent drug charges escaped the jail on Sunday and was recaptured shortly afterward.

The jailer could not provide any further details of her escape due to the ongoing investigation.

He did confirm the woman was taken back into custody by the Kentucky State Police several hours after her escape from the detention center in Richmond.

She remains housed in the Madison County Detention Center as of Monday afternoon.

More details will be released as they become available.
