MANCHESTER, Ky. — Lane closures will remain in effect on I-75 in Laurel County beginning Monday, March 31 continuing through Wednesday, April 30.
The project will require I-75 south bound to be reduced to one lane (mile points 48-47) at various times. Lane closures will be allowed at the following times – 7 p.m. through 7 a.m. from Sunday evenings through Friday mornings. The right shoulder will be closed inside the work zone (mile points 48-47) during duration of the project. The speed limit will also be reduced to 55 mph inside the work zone.
Blasting operations will begin Monday, March 31 and traffic may be halted a maximum of 15 minutes per hour. Blasting will be allowed Mondays through Thursdays (9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.). Significant delays along with stopped or slowed traffic will be expected.
The lane closures are necessary to allow crews to perform rock fall mitigation.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet asks motorists to be aware of the work zone and to utilize safe driving habits when traveling through the area.
All work is scheduled on a tentative basis and is subject to change depending on weather conditions, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.
